Virginia Sue Curlin

Virginia Sue Curlin, 91, of Decatur, passed away peacefully September 18, 2018 at Decatur Memorial Hospital. 

Sue was born March 30, 1927 in Murray, KY, the daughter of Milburn Bryan and Genora Ann (Adams) Holland.  She married James Curlin on October 31, 1953 in Argenta, IL.   

Sue was a teacher of business at MacArthur High School.  She was also a member of First Baptist Church.  She enjoyed music and was an avid supporter of the Millikin Decatur Symphony Orchestra and Opus 24.   

Surviving are her daughter in law, Elizabeth Curlin; grandchildren, Laura Curlin (Matt Nichols) of San Francisco, CA, James Curlin of Fort Collins, CO and Maggie Curlin of Chicago, IL. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James; son, Bryan Curlin; brother, Prentice Holland and sister, Juanita Lee. 

Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home.  Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery. 

Memorials: First Baptist church.

Roy F. Rush

Roy Francis Rush, 87, of Decatur, IL passed away September 18, 2018 at his
residence with his family by his side.
Roy was born August 11, 1931, in Des Moines, IA, the son of Joseph and Mary
(James) Rush. He married Mary Ann Binder on June 28, 2007 in Bella Vista, AR.
Roy was a veteran of the US Navy, serving aboard the USS Wright. As a civilian,
he served as a superintendent for Southern Pacific Railroad. During his leisure he
enjoyed golfing and spending time with friends and family.
Surviving are his wife Mary Ann, his son, daughters, stepsons and stepdaughters,
two brothers, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters and two brothers.
A private celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
The Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of Roy.

Stephen Lee Parker

Stephen Lee Parker, 42, of Decatur, passed away at his home on September 12, 2018.  

Stephen was born on March 29, 1976, the son of Danny Joe and Kendra Sue (Mair) Parker. He was a self-employed man who was known for his remarkable welding skills. He was also an avid sports fan, who enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Bears, and Nascar races. Stephen loved his Harley motorcycles, but above all, he loved his family and friends the most. 

He is survived by his mother, Kendra of Decatur and his father, Danny of LaRue, Texas; sisters Kady Anne Parker and Brandi Lynne Dennis, both of Decatur; two special nieces, Janey Lee Parker-Kile and Jessi Lynne Tish; maternal grandparents, Carol and Wayne Allen of Decatur; two aunts, Robin (Jim) Ferrebee of Oreana, IL and Kathy (Tom) Strode of Decatur, IL; two uncles, David (Shelley) Mair of Dalton City, IL and Rusty Parker of Oklahoma. 

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Dewey Mair; paternal grandparents, Carol and Lee Parker; aunt, Cindy (Chuck) Osborn and two uncles, Mike and Chris Parker. 

He will be greatly missed by his pals from Barb’s Place and Adam’s Apple. 

Visitation services to celebrate the life of Stephen Parker will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, September 17, 2018, at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home.

Jo Ella “Ella” Kidwell, 21, of Decatur, IL passed away on Sunday, September 9, 2018 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.

Jo Ella was born on June 29, 1997 in Grand Rapids, MI, the daughter of the late Sue Ellen (Reynolds) and Terry B. Kidwell. She attended Parsons Elementary School, Stephen Decatur Middle and MacArthur High School in Decatur, IL. She graduated from Deer Valley High School in Phoenix, AZ and worked at Macon Resources, Inc.

Jo Ella is survived by her father, Terry B. Kidwell; caregiver, The Reverend M. Stanley Wood; brother and sister in law, T. Brandon and Carrie Kidwell of Traverse City, MI; sister, Marissa Jennings of Grant, MI; aunt, Karene Kidwell of Bloomington, IN; uncle, William Heavin of Rolla, MO; aunt and uncle Jane (Kidwell) and Robert Black of Rolla, MO; aunt and uncle, Charlotte and John Reynolds and family; nephew, Alexander King of Traverse City, MI; niece, Brinsley Kidwell of Cornstock Park, MI; niece, Jessica Heavin of Tulsa, OK; cousins, Linda and Jerry Wolfe and family, Jeri and Dale Bradford and family, Ginny and William Brocksmith and family, Pam and George Arndt and family, Lisa and Donnie Sutton and family and others of Decatur, IL; Cheryl and Kenneth Snoke of Indiana; Judy and James Sutton and many others including her dog Carma.

Service will be Saturday, September 22, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church, 201 West North Street 62522, at Church Street at 10 AM. Visitation will be at 9 AM in the sanctuary. Interment will be private at the Mount Zion Cemetery in Boody, IL.

Willie Frazier

Willie Frazier, 45, of Chicago, died September 6, 2018 at Memorial Hospital, Chester, IL.   

Willie was born May 1, 1973, in Chicago, IL, the son of Willie and Lenora (Inglam) Frazier.   

He leaves behind to help cherish his memory his mother and father, Lenora and Willie; children, Andrea Middleton of Chicago, Willie Frazier of Chicago, Brandon Dugar of Chicago; sisters, Stephanie Frazier of Decatur, Shalon Frazier of Chicago, Lora Hatcher of Chicago; brother, Travis Hatcher of Chicago, and five grandchildren. 

Cremation rites will be accorded.  Memorial service will be scheduled at a later date in Chicago.
