Amy G. Carter, 95, of Decatur passed away on Monday July 31, 2017 in her home.
Amy was born on December 19, 1921 in Sugar Creek, KY the daughter of Carl and Nellie (Hayes) Pendleton. She was a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church. She was an interpreter for the hearing impaired and a volunteer for many years with Meals on Wheels. She was on the first all-women’s softball league in Jacksonville, IL. She enjoyed crocheting and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. She was “Grandma” to everybody. She married Russell William Carter. He preceded her in death on November 24, 1972.
Surviving are her sons, Charles C. Carter (Judy) of Decatur; David “Rusty” Carter (Karen) of Nash, TX; daughters, Judy Betzer of Arco, ID; Jean Carter of Warrensburg; son-in-law, Charles Farmer of Mattoon; 13 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 sisters, 1 daughter Patricia Farmer, and 3 grandchildren.
Funeral service to celebrate Amy’s life will be 11 AM Monday, August 7, 2017 in Pilgrim Lutheran Church. Visitation will be 10-11 AM Monday in the church. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Pilgrim Lutheran Church.
