Billy Lee Matthews, 79, of Decatur, passed away on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at Generations at McKinley Court.

Bill was born on August 31, 1938 to the late Robert and Evelyn

(King) Matthews.

Bill married Karen A. Harrison in Decatur, June 19, 1960

He retired after 12 years as UAW International Representative for Region 4 and retired from Caterpillar Inc after 32 years.

He was a former member of Local 751 and served as vice president 1 term and 3 terms as president.

Mr. Matthews served his country in the army for 3 years.

Surviving are his wife, Karen. Children, Jeffrey (Tami) Matthews, Michael (Sandy) Matthews and Melynda “Mindy” (Bill) Provenzano, Brother, Leon (Linda) Matthews; 10 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents.; brother, Buzz Matthews; sisters, Kay DeVore and Nancy Caldwell.

Memorials may be made to Cross Pointe Community Church.

A memorial to service to celebrate Bills life will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at noon at Cross Pointe Community Church, 34 S Country Club Road.
