  2. There will never be another son-in-law in this world like our sweet Delmar. He is irreplaceable. I have know no one that has made the impact one person has to this world. The courage and faith he has shown throughout his battle was amazing. I can’ hardly believe that WE were All blessed to have him in our family. I thank God for you Delmar, for the husband, father, son, brother and friend you were. You will forever be in our hearts.
Thank you for the memories! I love you.
    Linda

  3. Sorry for you loss of a great man who loved everyone. I worked with Delmar in DeWitt county Habitat as my vice president when I was president. He then took over as president and did a great job. I will miss him even though I didn't see him all that much lately. Rest in peace.

  4. Delmar had a keen sense of humor. I was blessed to have worked with him at First National Bank. He was funny and onery, he will be missed. Rest in Peace Delmar. Thoughts and Prayers to his family. Bonnie Seeforth, Decatur, IL

  5. I'm so very sorry for your loss. Delmar was always a very cheerful and outgoing individual. He will be missed very much.

  6. Amy and daughters, so sorry to hear of Delmar's passing, I have followed Delmar and his fight with cancer closely on facebook. Although I was only around Delmar for the few short years he was in Medora, he became one of my best and trusted friends at that time, that continued during his journey to Flora and back home, and to this day. We had so many memorable times including the rabbit you brought to Medora, the many good things Delmar did for the town, umpiring little league ball games, mayor of the town, etc. He made such an impact on the local community, the most memorable impact by one individual that I have ever seen in the community. Delmar, I will miss you! Thank you for being an inspiration to me.

  7. I am honored and privileged to have spent time on this earth with my precious friend, Delmar. I am blessed with the certain hope of seeing him again in Heaven. Until then, we have so many wonderful memories, filled with laughter and sprinkled with some tears because that's what happens when you do life together. My last conversation with Delmar went like this –
    D: I love you.
    Me: I love you, too.
    D: Do something for me.
    Me: Anything.
    D: Take care of her.
    Me: Always.
I, again, am honored and privileged to be given the trust to care for the person he loved most in this world, his beautiful and amazing wife, Amy. And at the moment we had this conversation, a million memories flooded my head of the times we've spent together. I share a few photos here but can't come close to the amount of love, laughter, tears, prayer, food, fun, and friendship we have shared. Delmar was a blessing to everyone he met, whether he knew them for a lifetime or a moment in time. Big hugs, big kisses, big faith, big heart – wrapped up in a wonderful, funny, Jesus-loving man.

Delmar, you have and will continue to do all things through Christ who has given you strength. I can't wait to be reunited with you in Heaven!

  8. Our friendship with Delmar began recently and felt like one that had existed for many years. He and Amy made us feel like family from the moment we met. We will miss your presence every Christmas and cherish the gift of shared memories.

    All our love,
    Brent and Toni Mitchell

  9. I moved to Decatur in the summer of 1979 and didn't know a soul. When high school started I went to Macon, still not knowing a soul. I am a pretty quiet, reserved type so getting to know anyone for me takes a while. I don't know exactly how it happened but somehow Delmar started coming over to my house (we didn't live too far away from each other). One Friday or Sat night it was getting late when the doorbell rang and there was Del, telling me to get in the car – "we're going to the movies". One of my parents asked what movie and he replied "10". I was kind of hoping he would have said something else since I didn't go to many R rated movies at that point. Delmar (and some others) sure helped me to have a much better year at HS than I would have otherwise. Very sorry to hear the news. He was never a stranger to anyone for long!

    With our Deepest Sympathy,
    Ann and Tom Rohde

  11. Amy, Delmar was a Blessing to everyone he knew, especially you. You are now Blessed with a very Special Guardian Angel that will watch over you, Emily, Sam & Bree until you are reunited again. May God Bless you and comfort you all.

    With my love, Terri

  12. To the Sandage Family,
Delmar was a student of mine at Macon Jr-Sr High School. I will forever remember his smile and love of life. I send my deepest condolences to his family.
    Sincerely,
    LaVonne Chaney

  13. What a wonderful, inspiring man. I’d never met anyone like Delmar, he was very special and will be missed by so many.

  14. Wow where do I start. Delmar was such a blessing to Cancer Care. Always positive and talking to the patients. Never complained or worried about himself always putting others first. We will miss him, but laugh about the memories we have. You are finally home Delmar.. Rest in Peace.

    Love Shelley RN, Cancer Care.
