Fred H. “Skip” Perryman

Fred “Skip” H. Perryman, Jr., 75, of Decatur, passed away Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
Skip was born November 14, 1941, in Clinton, IL to Fred H. and Noeva M. (Taylor) Perryman, Sr. He served in the United States Army state side, in Korea, and later in France while building the Berlin Wall. He married Jan M’ree Bennett in 1969 and together they had two sons.
Skip bowled for over 50 years, He attended 25 National Tournaments and was inducted into the Macon County Bowling Hall of Fame in 2002. He served and held many offices on the Decatur Bowling Board for more than 35 years. He was known as DJ Kid Dynomite for more than 30 years. He was an avid racing fan and driver. He was a race track announcer of stock cars, go karts, motorcycles and demo derby. He was an instructor for NRA shooting and gun clubs. He was Quartermaster for the Local VFW 99 and previously for Clinton Post 4168.
Skip is survived by his two sons, Lynn (Mandy Scheibly) Perryman of Hardyville, KY and Kevin (Tina) Perryman of Decatur; three grandchildren, Levi, Lindy and Zachary Perryman;one sister, Jane Ginder of Springfield; and special friend, Roger Brady.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother and one nephew.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Skip Perryman will be 10 a.m. Monday, March 20 , 2017, at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 19, 2017, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, in Clinton, where full military honors will be conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family in care of Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home.

  2. My dear half-brother and I didn't share a lot of time but when we did it was always filled with happiness and laughter, Skip was a natural at making people laugh and enjoy being around him. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. My prayers are with all of you at this time. God bless.

  7. Skip was a great friend for over 40 years…we started to DJ about the same time and loved music. I remember him playing music at the old Mt. Zion Bowl in the early 80s. He was loyal to the VFW as an Army veteran. My wife and I will miss his laugh and jokes. He was a great PR guy. Deepest condolences to the Perryman family. RIP Skip.
