  1. Gene has been a big part of our lives. So many times I would be watching over Gene and to find him last night has been heartbreaking. Skyler and I may have only been his great-niece and great-great niece but we were closer than those labels. We will miss having him at our family holidays and birthdays. Friday night we spent the evening together and had a great time. We discussed our upcoming birthdays and the future. Gene was not only our family but our friend. I told the "old man" to lock his door and he finally listened to me. That deadbolt worked but not enough to keep us from trying to help you. I know you loved us and appreciated everything we did for you and Marty.
