Janis Jones

Janis Jones, 93, of Decatur, passed away Monday, May 13, 2019, at Imboden Creek Living Center, surrounded by her loving family. 

Janis was born September 18, 1925, in Hurst, IL to Brenton H. and Mary (Smith) Davis. She married Roy Peters, Sr., and they had two beautiful children together. He passed away March 14, 1950. She later married Samuel D. Jones on March 8, 1968. He passed away December 14, 1995. Janis enjoyed cooking and reading, but nothing made her smile more than animals and children. 

She is survived by her two children, Roy (Linda) Peters of Decatur, IL and Karen (Dr. Phillip) Finney of Springfield, IL; two granddaughters, Sherry (Mark) Miller and Jennifer Reed; two great-grandsons, Trevor Miller and Brody Reed. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Roy, Sr; her second husband, Samuel; one great-granddaughter, Marie Carnahan and one sister, Betty Perry. 

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Janis Jones will be 12 p.m. Thursday, May 16, 2019, at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Thursday before the service at the funeral home. Entombment will be in Star of Hope Mausoleum. Memorials may be directed to PawPrint Ministries 226 W Eldorado St, Decatur, IL 62522.
