Decatur – Marilouise “Mary” W. Miller, 84, of Decatur, passed away Friday, January 12, 2018, at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Mary was born in Springfield, IL, February 27, 1933, to Mildred Wheeler and John E. Hilberling of Decatur. She grew up on a farm with her grandparents, Ira and Nora Wheeler, in rural Oakley. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, and cooking. Mary attended Stephen Decatur High School and Brown Business College. Mary was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, DAR, Decatur Genealogical Society, Decatur Quilters Guild, and was a 4H Leader.
Mary married Gerald Sheppard in June 1953 and he preceded her in death. In March 1963 she married Vernon H. Brunner, Sr. They enjoyed traveling, gardening, and raising registered show dogs. Vernon preceded her in death. In September 1996 Mary married Irvin W. Miller. They enjoyed vacation travel, church activities, spending time with family and friends, and bowling. Irvin preceded her in death. The last years of her life, she spent with long time companion Chandis Stewart. They enjoyed travel and family get togethers.
Mary is survived by her son, Gary Sheppard and grandson Jared of Decatur; daughter Sue McDermith and late husband Keith Pittman, grandson Matthew Jenkins of Decatur; step-daughter Melenie Milliman, husband John of Forsyth and step-granddaughter Rachel Milliman, of Decatur.
Mary was also preceded in death by her mother, father, son Jeffery Sheppard, grandson Aaron McDermith, and step-son Rickie Brunner.
Funeral services to celebrate her life will be 10 am Wednesday, January 17, 2018, in the Moran & Goebel Funeral Home, 2801 N. Monroe St, Decatur, IL 62526; visitation will be one hour before the services in the funeral home. Burial will take place in North Fork Cemetery.
