Rita L. Ferre

Rita L. Ferre (Nee Wagner), age 90, passed away peacefully after a brief hospitalization on January 12, 2018. Rita was born April 21, 1927, in Decatur, the youngest daughter of Theodor A. and Magdalena J. (Keller) Wagner. She was a lifelong member of St. James Catholic Church and was the Treasurer of the St. Elizabeth Society. A graduate of Decatur High School, she worked at H. Post & sons. She married Richard D. Ferre on July 16, 1951 and raised her family on Clay Street in Decatur. They relocated to Forsyth in 1997 and Rita recently moved to Arlington Heights, IL. She was Secretary of the Ralph G. Long Chapter of Credit Union (Formerly the St. James Catholic Credit Union).

She is survived by her children, David (and wife, Esther) Ferre of Dallas, TX, Jeanane Ferre of Oak Park, IL, and Alyce (and husband, Brian) Faleni of Lake Zurich as well as her four grandchildren, Trevor Ferre of Dallas, TX, Hanna Grannis of Oak Park, IL, Matthew Faleni of LaGrange, IL and Kristin Faleni of Chicago, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, one brother and her husband Richard. Rita will rest in peace next to her husband of nearly 60 years at Graceland Cemetery. Entombment will be private. A memorial celebration of Rita’s life is scheduled for 10 a.m. on April 21, 2018 at the Star of Hope Mausoleum in Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider donation to Ss. James and Patrick Catholic Church, Decatur, IL or charity of choice.

  1. I'm so sorry to hear of Aunt Rita's passing. I had seen her and Uncle Dick on my last visit to Decatur and so enjoyed exchanging Christmas cards with them both over the years. She will truly be missed. My sincerest sympathy and love to all the family.
