Sadie West

Death Date: April 12, 2019

Sadie Irene West, 79, of Decatur passed away on Friday, April 12, 2019 at her home.

She was born March 8, 1940 in Ramsey, the daughter of David and Lela Newcome.  She married Doyle West in 1976.  He preceded her in death in 1980.

Sadie is survived by longtime friend and companion Jack Nichols of Decatur; daughters Marla King of Decatur, Rita (Scott) Perry of Mount Zion and Robin (Larry) Askins of Decatur; grandchildren Tyler and Brandon King, Megan Woodrum, Mason Perry, Bryan Barringer and Keith Askins; great-grandchildren Alex and Brooklynn Barringer and Bryce King; sister Betty Carroll of Nokomis; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank Bobby Nichols and Tammy Robl for their loving support.

Sadie worked many jobs during her lifetime, which included 25 years at Bodine Electric and eventually retiring from Overnite Transportation.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.

At Sadie’s request, there will be no visitation. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 18, 2019 at Camp Butler in Springfield.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in memory of Sadie to the Advanced Rehabilitation Center at HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital.
