Teresa “Terri” A. Tate, of Decatur, passed away on March 15, 2018 in her home after a long courageous battle with cancer.
Terri was born on September 25, 1964 in Madison, Wisconsin to John and Joyce Page and was a graduate of Stephen Decatur High school.
Terri married Donald Tate, Jr. on August 11, 1984 in Decatur, Illinois. They have two children, Megan and Cheyenne.
Terri previously worked as a Legal Secretary for Brown, Hawkins, Basola and Mattingley and was currently the Office Manager/Paralegal at the Macon County Public Defender’s Office.
Surviving are her husband, daughter Megan, daughter Cheyenne her husband Thomas Altig, her grandchildren Max, Charlee and Eloise, parents and sister.
Terri was a consummate volunteer serving as an active board member, past treasurer and actress with Theatre 7, the Maroa Public Library Board of Trustees -Vice President, the Girl Scouts of Central Illinois Troop Leader and Certified Trainer, past member of the Decatur Bowling Association, and the Maroa Library Quilters, to name a few.
Terri loved so many things in her life, sewing, crocheting, racing, car shows and parades with her grandchildren, quilting, acting and reading, but her greatest joys in life were her daughters and being Nana to her grandchildren.
Terri was a wonderful and faithful friend to so many as she always put others before herself and she will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. There are not enough words to describe what an incredible lady Terri was.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Cancer Care Specialists of Central Illinois.
A visitation to honor Teresa’s life will be held at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home on Friday, March 23, 2018 from 5 to 7 pm with the funeral on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 10 am. Pastor Dan Perry will officiate.
