Virginia E. Seldat

Death Date: February 9, 2019

On November 26, 1946, Virginia (Jan) E. Savage was born to parents Earl and Lillian Savage.  Early Saturday morning, February 9, 2019 Jan peacefully slipped away to join them.  She bravely battled her cancer, yet was eager to go home to family, friends, and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Jan lived a passionate life dedicated to the Lord, her children, and her family her loving heart reached out to encompass anyone in need.  She was passionate about learning and was a published poet.  She pursued a career as a Phlebotomists and a certified nursing assistant.  Music was a constant in Jan’s life.  She sang gospel and performed in Nashville as a backup singer and a soloist.  She started her own promotion production company.

Jan was witty and fun to be around.  Her favorite saying in life was “whatever” to keep an even keel.

She leaves  behind to love and cherish her memory; loving son, Blake Paschal; loving daughters, Carla Greenwell and Melody Davis; loving sister, Wanda Carry; two grandsons; one great-grandson; three granddaughters; one great-granddaughter; and four step-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David Seldat and one great-grandson, Dylan.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to Darrell, Becky, and Robin at Harbor Lights Hospice; also to Amy and Tyler at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home and Cemetery for all of their help.  Memorials to family accepted.

Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, February 15, 2019 at Graceland Cemetery in Decatur.

    Blake and Melody, I just found out that your mother has passed away. Please accept my condolences. I remember your mother as a sweet woman. Im sure you have tons of wonderful memories. In case you dont remember me, our family lived across the street from you, your mom and Dave on Ridgeway Dr. We had 3 boys and a girl. Praying you feel God’s comfort.
