Jean Baker, 80, of Goreville, IL, passed away Saturday, June 17, 2017 at Hickory Point Christian Village.
Jean was born November 13th, 1936 in Shreveport, LA, the daughter of Jimmie Lee Robinson and James Guy Pace. She married Richard R. Baker on August 27th, 1976 in Decatur. Jean had many loves, but her grandchildren were her priority. She loved them with all of her heart. She enjoyed camping, being outdoors and especially loved flowers. She was an outstanding cook and a wonderful seamstress. Her interest also included award winning cross stitching, theatre, collecting antiques, dancing and shooting archery.
Jean was a member of Theatre 7, the Marion & Goreville Senior Citizens Clubs, People’s Church of God and later Unity Church.
Jean is survived by her daughters, Karol Lynn Cowell-(Matthew) Stookey and Karen Lisa Cowell; one brother, James Guy Pace, Jr; two grandchildren, Jennifer and David Stookey and one special cousin, Shirley Johnson.
She was preceded in death by both parents and her sister, Sue Martinelli.
Memorials may be made to Theatre 7 in Jeans’ honor.
The family will be hosting a Celebration of Life to honor Jeans’ life on Saturday, July 8th, 2017 at Faith United Methodist Church, located at 1719 S. Prospect Ave, Champaign, IL 61820 at 11 AM with a luncheon to follow.
