Bonnie Lee Jones

February 24, 1950 - April 17, 2022

Bonnie Lee Jones (Thilsted), 72, of Decatur IL, passed away surrounded by her loved ones at 8:09 PM, Easter Sunday, at St. Mary’s Hospital. Bonnie was born February 24th, 1950, in Hardtner, KS to James and Lois Jean Thilsted. She married Dennis L. Jones on October 11th, 1968. Bonnie grew up in Blackwell, OK and attended Blackwell High. She was a cheerleader. One of Dennis’ favorite pictures of them is of her in her cheerleader uniform and him in his football jersey. Dennis and Bonnie have three children together: Penny Jones (Andrew Gross), Dennis II (Lynda) and Amanda Seider (Tim). She is proceeded in death by her mother, Lois Jean, her father, James and nephew, Bobby. Bonnie loved traveling with the love of her life, Dennis, going on cruises, playing bingo, going to Oklahoma football games, visiting her family in Oklahoma, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will forever be remembered for her ruthless whit, undying love for her husband and family, making friends everywhere she went in her travels, being involved in everything at the Decatur Public Schools when Penny, Dennis II, and Amanda were in school, and being EVERYONES mother. She was extremely involved in and dearly loved her experiences with the Illinois PTA throughout the 1990s and was a Lifetime member. She loved bragging about her granddaughter’s art, her grandson playing college football and about how amazing of a father her oldest grandson is. She is survived by her husband Dennis L. Jones; children, Penny Jones (Andrew Gross), Dennis Jones II (Lynda), and Amanda Seider (Tim); siblings, Mary Hamilton (Randy), Jimmy Thilsted, and David Thilsted (Debbie); grandchildren, Dj Jones III (Elissa), Aiden Seider, and Devan Jones; great-granddaughters, Riley and Skyler Jones; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and countless friends, loved ones and all of her bingo buddies. A visitation will be held on Friday, April 22, 2022 at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral home from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A service will be held on Friday, April 22, 2022 at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home at 7:00 PM. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Eisenhower High School, 1200 S. 16th Street, Decatur, IL 62521.
