Carolyn Sue Reed

Carolyn Sue (Roof) Reed, 74, of Decatur, passed away Thursday, October 14, 2021 in her home with her family at her side. Carolyn was born in Decatur on September 28, 1947, the daughter of Harry and Lula Mae (Hoback) Roof Sr. She married Terry Lynn Reed on July 14, 1974 in Decatur. Carolyn leaves behind daughter Bridget (Jack) Kinney and sons Jesse Reed and Travis Reed, all of Decatur; brother Michael (Betty) Roof of Arizona; grandchildren Sosha (Cory) Williams of Decatur, Josh (Rachel) Kinney of Warrensburg, Cassie (Ryan) Bentz of Decatur, Brandon (Bailee) Chandler of Decatur, and many bonus grandchildren; great-grandchildren Jr, Nessa, Colby, Delilah, Athena, Violet, and Paxton; and special friends Paul, Mary, Debbie, Sandy, Bill, Barb, Reggie, Lydia, Ken, Pat, Ken, Cheryl, and Katie. She’s gone to Heaven to be with her husband Terry, Mom, Dad, four sisters, ten brothers, and mother-in-law. Carolyn worked in nursing facilities, and after her retirement she became full-time caregiver for her husband and mother-in-law. Her favorite things to do were to watch General Hospital and hang out at Family Gardens with her friends. She loved elephants. Thank you to everyone who came visit and sit with her in her last days. Thank you to hospice for helping her. A funeral service for Carolyn will be held on Saturday, October 23 at 4pm at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 2-4pm prior to the service.
