Theron E. Redfern, 77, of Lovington, IL, passed away January 16, 2022 at Decatur Memorial Hospital. Theron was born May 3, 1944 in Decatur, IL, the son of Gilbert and Ada Belle (Cox) Redfern. He married Cheryl Davis on July 18, 1964 in Lovington, IL. Theron was a supervisor for A.E. Staley for 28 years. He then worked for ADM as a semi driver for 10 years. Through his work history Theron also was a grain and livestock farmer. He was a member of Jonathan Creek Christian Church. He enjoyed team penning and sorting cattle. He had a great love for his animals. He was commonly known as the “Caretaker of long-lost dogs”. He was a very friendly sort, who never knew a stranger. Surviving are his wife Cheryl, children, TG Redfern (Dawn) of Lovington, Kelly Bolt (Bob Alexander) of Clinton, IL, Trisha VonLanken (Mark) of Broken Arrow, OK; daughter in law, Kris Whipp of Burlington, WV; sister, Jane Younger of Bethany, IL; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, David Redfern; and brother, Jack Redfern. Private services will be announced at a later date.
