Marilyn, In trying to reach Porter I learned of his passing in 2020. My outreach had to do with intuitive connections of Porter & Chuck Doak with 1st century personalities re. an historical fiction book of mine based on tomb & ossuary discoveries in South Jerusalem. Porter was a pillar of our Annual conference for years and years. Besides being the resident expert on Robert's Rules of order, he was a good man with a clear sense of right and wrong! We are deeply saddened by the news of Porter's death. Decatur, Illinois Power, and the Illinois Great Rivers Conference of The United Methodist Church have lost a faithful leader who provided wisdom and guidance with grace and compassion. We shared many good times with Porter and Marilyn at several United Methodist General, Jurisdictional and Annual Conferences over the years. Our memories are fond and run deep. May many gifts of God's peace and comfort abide with Marilyn and family.

I had the privilege of working with Porter on a number of projects for The United Methodist Church conference. He was always extremely helpful and kind! I especially remember the training he provided for many of us on the effective use of DayTimers -- I still use mine today. Porter had many skills and he used them well to serve God. I would say Rest In Peace -- but if there is work to be done in heaven, I am sure Porter is doing his share!

Dear Marilyn and sons of Porter
I am truly sorry to hear of Porter's death. I talk about you both so much and share with my Bible study groups the things I learned from Porter and you. What a wonderful time we had together at this study. I really learned so much. Then aside from that we had a lovely friendship and that has a special meaning to me. Porter and I often talked about my son who has a Phd. from Johns Hopkins U. in Electrical Eng. and now is on their faculty and engrossed in helping solve this terrible virus.
Just know that I am with you in my thoughts and prayers and have wonderful memories of you both. My Bud passed away in 2014. Perhaps they are now together chatting about engineering. Bud was Mechanical and always told me that the wheel came first.
After things settle down for you I will write a long letter.
