Lit a candle in memory of Leonard E. "Speed" Wetherell
Speed was such a great friend and instrumental to assisting me in starting the Decatur Alliance Church. Every Wednesday he and Mary Lou came to my house for dinner before going to the Wednesday prayer meeting. I had only known Speed a few weeks when the church held a social. During the dessert I heard Speed say somewhat under his breathe, "Aw shucks, these two pieces of pie stuck together so I had to take them both." When I looked at his plate one piece was apple and one cherry. When he looked at me he had that broad smile on his face and broke out laughing…I knew we were going to be great friends. Speed didn't know a stranger and what a wonderful gift that was in trying to build a new church. God's richest blessing on Speed's memory.Rick Fisk
