Everyone who knew Dee will remember her for being a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. But she was all those and so much more. As a youngster spending my summers at Grant Park I always felt safe knowing she would protect me and not because I asked her to but because that was who she was. Even when I didn't deserve the benefit of the doubt she had my back. Always. Fast forward to 2019 when my mom was diagnosed with cancer and it was Dee that was at the hospital every single day. For no other reason but to be supportive. I remember telling her how appreciative I was for her support but I felt a bit ashamed because I hadn't been there for her when her mom was battling her own cancer diagnoses. But she eased my guilt by saying she had been through a similar situation and it is nice to have someone there who too has experienced such a difficult moment in their life. That is who she was. She was a great friend who just happened to be my cousin. And I speak for my entire family when I say she will be missed but never forgotten. Jim Hill
