Aaron Leroy Carlson's Obituary
Aaron Leroy Carlson, 84, died June 30, 2022 in Decatur, IL. Aaron was born December 11, 1937 in
Galesburg, IL to Walter and Mildred (Lawrence) Carlson. They preceded him in death.
Aaron married Chong Ae “Connie” Chang on October 19, 1960 in Seoul, South Korea. She survives.
Aaron and Connie have four sons, Nick of Knoxville, IL, Michael (Connie) of Decatur, Rick (Cheryl) of
Normal, IL and David (Sandy) of Marengo, IL. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Brandy, Nicholas,
Lindsey and Erica; Michael, Daniel and Katy; Stephanie and Cameryn. Aaron was also Great Grandfather
to Jason, Joseph and Jacob; Gabrielle, Grayson and Layla; and Elayne. Aaron is survived by a brother
Ronnie (Juanita) Carlson of Galesburg. A brother Jerry Carlson preceded him in death.
Aaron joined the army at age eighteen and was stationed in Korea and Germany. He joined the Illinois
National Guard in 1973 and retired after thirty-three years of service.
Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home, 2091 N. Oakland Avenue. Decatur, IL is in charge of arrangements. A
private family service will be held. Burial will be in Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield, IL. Full
military rites will be conducted.
