Aaron Oscar Nelson's Obituary
Aaron Oscar Nelson, 90, of Decatur, IL, passed away on Friday (02-19-2026) at his home.
Aaron was born on September 24, 1935, in Boody, Il, the son of Nels Elias Nelson and Lillian Mae (Neibuhr) Nelson. He married Karen Sue Brunscheen on February 2, 1985, in Chanhassen, MN
Aaron served his country in the United States Army and the United States Air Force and was active in the V.A. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Decatur, IL. Aaron was a retired Engineer. He was also an Illinois Master Gardner. Aaron loved all different types of music, Miniature Schnauzers, fishing, Chicago Bears football and Chicago Cub’s baseball.
He is survived by his wife Karen of 41 years; three daughters: Angie True and husband William of Vancouver, WA; Paula Nelson of Dallas, TX; and Krisi House and husband T.J. of Rocky Mount, N.C.; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Aaron was preceded in death by his parents, one son David, four brothers: Charles Nelson, Homer Nelson, Garth Nelson, and Norman Nelson; and one sister Ardis Nelson.
A Graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday (02-25-2026) at Macon County Memorial Park, Decatur, IL. Military rites will be conducted by the Macon County Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: Trinity Lutheran Church, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Donor’s Choice.
