Abbie Ruth Barnard's Obituary
Abbie Ruth Barnard, 87, formerly of Bloomington Il died Sunday, August 16, 2015 at Imboden Creek Living Center in Decatur.
She was born October 14, 1927 in Webster Groves, Mo., the daughter of William T. Wallace and Mary Hammond Wallace. She married Robert Clarence Barnard on June 28, 1951 in Warsaw, IL at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
Abbie is survived by her daughter, Mary Virginia Turek (Joseph) of Decatur and her son, Robert William Barnard of Champaign.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her sister, Virginia W. Jones.
Abbie earned a B. S. in Education from National College of Education in Evanston, IL. She taught second grade for five years. Abbie served as Worthy Matron in Keystone Chapter of Eastern Star in 1977. She was Grand Warder in 1983 and a Grand Lecturer for 20 years. Abbie was very active in Letitia Green Stevenson Chapter of DAR, in Bloomington and served as Regent. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Bloomington. Abbie lived the last several years of her life with her son, Robert, in Champaign, IL.
Graveside services to celebrate the life of Abbie Barnard will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday, August 20, 2015 in Oakland Cemetery in Warsaw, IL. Memorials may be directed to the family to be designated at a later date.
