Agnes Elaine Batorson's Obituary
Decatur- Agnes Elaine Batorson, 91, of Decatur, passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2015, in her home with her loving family at her side.
Agnes was born April 8, 1923, in Vandalia, IL, daughter of Harley and Ruth (Wright) Coling. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church and worked as a home health care provider and a group leader at General Electric for many years. Agnes married George S. Batorson on March 15, 1942 and he preceded her in death on January 23, 2012 after nearly 70 years of marriage.
She is survived by her daughter, Julie (Doug) Pope of Decatur; eleven grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren; brother, Lester Bruns and sister, Dorothy (Jerry) Crow of Nokomis; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Batorson of Batavia; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, father, step-father, husband, son Dennis and daughter, Rita.
Funeral services to celebrate her life will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 10, 2015 at the Star of Hope Mausoleum in Graceland Cemetery; visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Star of Hope Mausoleum. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ United Methodist Church.
