Alan Edwin Pahde, 82, of Decatur, IL passed away May 14, 2020 in Decatur, IL. Alan was born February 18, 1938 in Litchfield, IL, the son of Edwin and Dora (Brauer) Pahde. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Easte Read Obituary
Mr. Padhde was one of my best teachers. I got used to watching a film and taking a pop quiz. He would always wear his golf outfits and his golf shoes. He would also have a stress reliever pushing it when he would be giving the tests. I really loved having him as a history teacher it was so fun.
I don’t know if you as a family see our posts on Facebook but there are a million tributes going out to him! And no one as a student has nothing but a kind word to say about him! What a fabulous man & teacher! We were so fortunate to have him as a teacher!! Rest In Peace Mr Pahde!! Your students loved you!’
Al was a friend and classmate of mine both in college and high school. 1956 Mt. Olive High School and Eastern Il. University. He was kind and very competitive. He played first base on our outstanding high school baseball teams. He always let me know about his good friendship. When I was a scout for the Cardinals for over 20 years he loved that as he was a fan and when I became Chairman of the EIU Board of Trustees he showed up at a number of class reunions. He was a wonderful man, a good athlete, a good golfer and referee. He will be missed by all who knew him.

So sorry for your loss. Mr. Pahde was a favorite teacher for all of us at Stephen Decatur High School. He, and Carl the caveman, made learning fun. I would see him later in life at the old Scovill and Wildwood golf courses. He always remembered your name and always had a kind word. He will truly be missed.
