DECATUR- Alfred Carlyle Hartbank, 92, of Robinson, formerly of Decatur, passed away at 7:50 am Friday, March 20, 2009 in Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson.
Graveside services to celebrate Alfred’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 23, 2009 in Graceland Cemetery with the “Flight Home” Ceremony concluding the service. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday, March 23, 2009 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Memorial contributions are suggested to Lakeview Baptist Church. Alfred was born on March 21, 1916 in Decatur the son of Charles C. and Daisy C. (Buckner) Hartbank. He owned and operated J and H Tire Company in Decatur for many years. After he retired he worked for the school and Montgomery Ward. He was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church in Decatur and attended New Hope Baptist Church in Robinson. He was a member of the Royal Neighbors of America #618. Alfred married Alwilda E. Ridgeway on May 2, 1937. She preceded him in death on December 6, 1991.
He leaves behind his son: Robert C. Hartbank and his wife Deloris of Robinson, three grandchildren, seven great- grandchildren, and five great- great -grandchildren.
He was reunited in heaven with his parents, wife, four half brothers and two half sisters.
