Alfred L. Weingand's Obituary
Decatur-Alfred L. Weingand, 96, of Decatur, passed away Thursday, January 19, 2012 at his residence with his loving family by his side.
Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Alfred’s life will be 1 p.m. Monday, January 23, 2012 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 2160 N. Edward, with Father Rick Weltin, Celebrant. There will be no visitation. Entombment will be in the Star of Hope Mausoleum at Graceland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Alfred was born May 28, 1915 in St. Charles, MO, the son of William A. and Anna Mary (Fister) Weingand. He proudly served his country in the Army Air Corps during W.W. II. He retired from Sears in 1979 after 17 years of service. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church and enjoyed golfing, working around his house and yard, and inventing things. He married Stella Halicki November 21, 1945 in Clinton, IL she preceded him in death September 15, 2010.
He leaves behind his son; Richard and wife Terry of Springfield, grandson; Michael, brother; Paul G. and wife Lucy Weingand of Satellite Beach, FL, and many nieces and nephews.
He was greeted into heaven by his parents, wife, and brothers William and Joseph.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Jatoi, Dr. Wade and Cancer Care Specialists of Central Illinois, and Dr. Caceres and staff, the nurses and staff at St. Mary's 6th and 7th ARC floor especially Marge, Cindy, and Ron.
