Alice E. Lawyer's Obituary
ARTHUR- Alice E. Lawyer 63, of Arthur, formerly of Lovington, passed away at 2:25 PM Saturday, August 13, 2016 in her home surrounded by her family.
Services to celebrate Alice’s life will be held at 10 AM Saturday, August 20, 2016 at the Wyman Park in Sullivan. Services will be conducted by Pastor Larry Bricker and Pastor Al Rennert. Memorials are suggested to the Decatur Memorial Hospital Hospice. Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements. Alice was born on January 8, 1953 in Champaign a daughter of Ross and Leota (Mathis) Chenoweth. Alice retired from the U.S. Postal Service as Post Master with 28 years of service and then managed Rusty’s in La Place. Alice served the community as an EMT for the Lovington Ambulance Service for many years and was a member of the La Place United Methodist Church, Lovington Village Board, and an active community member.
Surviving are her daughters- Cristy Ritchie and her husband Don of Cerro Gordo, Jamie Franklin and her husband Rick of Lovington and Katie Swanson and her husband Tommy of Panama City FL, sisters- Ann (Ken) Finke of Lovington, Carol Benedict of Lovington, and Kathy Price (Larry) of Lovington, brothers- Dick Chenoweth of La Place, Dennis Chenoweth of Lynchburg, VA, and David Chenoweth of Spring Hill, FL. Grandchildren- Justin (Sarah) Bork, Colin Franklin, Alicia Strode, Sydni Strode, Chloe Franklin, Sophia Alice Ritchie, great grandchildren- Brynley and Sadie Bork and her special friend George Lawyer.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, grandson- Austin Reid Franklin, sisters-in-law- Millie Chenoweth and Janet Chenoweth, brother-in-law- Benny Benedict.
Alice was an amazing mother, grandmother and friend. She had a huge heart and always cared for others before herself. She is known for her love and dedication for her daughters and all those she cared for.
