Alicia LeAnn Conway's Obituary
Alicia LeAnn Conway, 55, of Decatur, Illinois passed away on Wednesday, July 30th, 2025, of complications due to her battle with breast cancer.
A Celebration of Alicia’s life will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at Garver Brick United Methodist Church, 5670 Garver Church Road, Decatur, IL 62526.
Alicia was born on May 1st, 1970, in Fresno, California. She was adopted by Ezetta Ann Gower and George Alan Conway. From childhood Alicia had a smile that could light up the room, earning her the nickname "Smiley".
Alicia was a woman of faith. She led Sunday school classes for kids and worshipped at South Shores Christian Church. She enjoyed volunteering her time making meals, care packages and, unafraid to get her hands dirty, whatever "grunt work" would help another. Small acts of kindness were part of her daily routine.
Alicia drove school buses for the Argenta bus barn. She loved transporting kids safely to where they needed to be and was intentional about using the few minutes of time she had with them to get them to crack a smile or at least know that someone they crossed paths with in their day cared. Alicia was a natural caregiver, uplifter and transmitter of love and light to all who knew her. She had a heart of gold and her thoughtfulness knew no bounds.
She is survived by her fiance, Greg Gillen of Decatur; children, Kat Keller of West Liberty, IA, James Keller and Joseph Thomas, both of Decatur. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ezetta and George.
