Allene Rose Gondek's Obituary
Allene Rose Gondek, 88, formerly of Michigan City, Indiana, passed away Monday, December 23, 2013 as a resident of McKinley Court Care Centre in Decatur, Illinois.
Allene was born August 23, 1925, the daughter of Rinehart and Isabelle (Maxwell) Eikelberg. She married childhood sweetheart Edward M. Gondek, son of Walter and Anna Gondek, on September 28, 1946. He preceded her in death August 12, 2003, as did her parents, four brothers, and two sisters.
Allene held an Associate’s Degree from Purdue University Northwest and was employed by Jaymar-Ruby and Memorial Hospital. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church and American Legion. Allene was beloved for her dedication to Girl Scout Troop 75 as a leader and role model for over 10 years. She is survived by her sister Alice (Vernon, dec.) Stoll; children Patrick Gondek, Peggy (Thomas, dec.) Bushore, Douglas (Edna) Gondek, David (Susan) Gondek, and Mary Lou (Greg) Goode; grandchildren Jessica Bushore, Taylor Goode, Ashley and Sarah Gondek, Debbie (Greg) Ooton, Brad (Eva, dec.) Hale, and Greg (Reneé) Hale.
Allene’s ashes will be committed at sea in a Naval ceremony, as were her husband Edward’s, with veteran funeral honors.
