Alma was my neighbor in the West End. For over 40 years I have walked by her home just around the corner from mine and would often see her out in her yard or on the porch. We would always exchange pleasantries. What a sweet lady she was. I especially remember her driving down Summit Avenue in a white Mazda RX-7, wearing an athletic cap and looking so full of life. It is only through reading her obituary that I have come to learn of Alma's lifelong devotion to mentoring youth and taking care of people afflicted with medical problems. I knew her only as that friendly and interesting lady around the corner with whom I often wished I could have become better acquainted.
