Alta "Sis" Scoggins' Obituary
Alta “Sis” Scoggins (Osman), 61 of Decatur passed away peacefully on Monday, February 5, 2024, at Carle Hospital in Urbana, IL. She was surrounded by her family and their love up until her passing.
Sis was born March 19, 1962, in Decatur, the daughter of the late Gernon and Mildred Osman (White). She attended Lakeview High School. She has four children; Christopher, Richard, George, and Brandi whom she loved so very much. Many stepchildren, grandchildren, and great grandchildren which she held very close to her heart. Sis married Randall Scoggins in August 2011, and was so very happy to share life with him. She worked throughout her life but most recently worked at Hickory Point Christian Village in housekeeping.
Sis absolutely loved life to the fullest and always loved having a good time with her family and friends. She was a social butterfly in every aspect of its meaning. She was an avid ABATE member of Prairieland ABATE and served on their Executive Board for many years. She enjoyed shooting pool on a pool league with her husband, Randy, and many friends. Prairieland ABATE was home to their pool team and their team’s name was Happy Happy. They had a great number of successes as a team over the years. Sis loved music and supported many local bands. She was always one of the first ones out on the dance floor. Her favorite toast with a well-made Captain Morgan and Coke was, “Here’s to it and to it again, if we never get to it, and we don’t do it, may we never get to it again.” That will forever be a toast in her memory.
Sis also enjoyed the outdoors and camping with family and friends. She had a talent for crocheting and most recently, up until her stroke, resin crafting. She loved animals and especially loved their dog Shadow who was her best girl companion. She also loved jewelry in which her husband and family blessed her with so many beautiful pieces. Sis’s favorite flower was the yellow rose, and her favorite color was purple. Sis’s personality was silly, ornery, loving and overall, just simply happy. The littlest things always tickled Sis and made her laugh. She had a strong inner strength and a positive attitude even after all of her recent medical issues and the devastating loss of her son, Chris. Sis was very proud of her family, loved them all so very much, and leaves behind many wonderful memories. She will be dearly missed by so many.
A special thank you to Carle Hospital, the Critical Care Unit and the 7th floor nursing staff, for their outstanding care of Sis and her family.
Sis is survived by her husband Randall Scoggins of Decatur, 3 children; Richard, George (Sadie), and Brandi (Joe), all of Decatur, several Step-Children, Daughter-in-Law; Crystal Osman, Sisters; Mary Ann Foutch of Maywood, MO, and Sandra Ralston (Bob) of Macon, MO, Brother; Dean Osman (Donna) of Clinton, MO, 2 Niecesters; Terrie Brandon (Bob) and Jody Osman (John Gambrill) both of Decatur, many loving Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren, Extra Special Cousin and Niece; Cynthia and Vickie, as well as many other nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and special friends.

In Loving Memory of Sis:
You will be cherished
You will be loved
Whether you’re here or up above
We have some great memories
And shared many laughs
We have been through some good times,
And we have been through some bad..
Our hearts are all heavy
With tears in our eyes
It will never be easy to really say goodbye...
You will be cherished
You will forever be loved
We will meet again one day on the golden highway above....
You will never be forgotten
As your memory will live on
I just hope that one day,
I can say that I am just as strong.
To follow in your footsteps,
And love with my whole heart,
Just like you have done from the very start....
You will always be cherished
You will eternally be loved!
