Amanda Jo Knott's Obituary
Amanda “Mandie” Knott, cherished daughter, sister, and aunt, passed peacefully at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield on April 18, 2026, with family by her side.
Mandie was born in Decatur on September 9, 1980, the daughter of Joseph and Karla (Ballard) Knott. Mandie attended Sunnyside Center and Macon Resources, where she made lifelong friendships and was lovingly cared for by staff. She enjoyed Special Olympics bowling, listening to music on her record player, and watching videos on her iPad. She was always ready for a “bumpy” ride with her precious sister, Krista, and looked forward to “Mandie Mondays” with bestie “Aunt Sharon Powel.” Nephew Hunter Kirk always kept her smiling with his playfulness and creativity.
Mandie is survived by her mother Karla Knott of Decatur; sister Krista (Mike) Kirk of St. Louis, MO; nephew Hunter Kirk; aunts Dana (D.L.) Theobald and Judy Conrad; and a host of cousins and extended family. She was preceded in death by her father Joseph Knott, grandmothers Wilma Ballard and Marie Knott, and several aunts and uncles.
We would like to thank the doctors, nurses, Fr. Chris, and all those who lovingly cared for Mandie at HSHS St. John’s Hospital.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a graveside service at 11am on Friday, April 24, in Graceland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mandie’s honor to Macon Resources, Inc. (https://maconresources.org). Condolences may be shared with the family at https://www.gracelandfairlawn.com.
