Anne Mendenall's Obituary
Decatur- J. Anne Mendenall, 62, passed away 3:05 pm Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
Services to celebrate Anne’s life will be held at 6:00 pm on Monday, October 12, 2009 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home with Pastor Norman McCormack officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association. Online condolences and memories may be shared with Anne’s family at www.gracelandfairlawn.com.
Anne was born on August 13, 1947 in Asheville, North Carolina the daughter of Nora Rackham. After high school graduation she attended SIU Edwardsville and received a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Anne was employed for several years as business manager for McKinley Court Nursing Home and later was employed in RV Resort Sales until she retired in 2004. She was a member of the Maranatha in Decatur. Anne married Paul Mendenall on August 4, 1989 in Nashville, TN.
Left to cherish her memories are her loving husband Paul; son Larry (wife – Jody) Douglas and their children Taylor and Reese of Greenville, Wisconsin; daughter Elizabeth (husband – Darrell) Slocumb of Greensboro, Georgia; her mother Nora Rackham and sister Irene Whipple both in Sequim, Washington; also a loving adopted family.
Anne’s family would like to express heartfelt thanks to the nurses at Decatur Memorial Hospital ICU south and fourth floor, with a special thanks to Tammy Henderson, her personal care assistant.
Immediately following services, a gathering of Anne’s family and friends will have fellowship and food at the Decatur Moose Club, 3190 North Woodford Street, Decatur, IL.
