Anne T. Phillips' Obituary
Decatur-Anne T. Phillips, 84, of Decatur, passed away at 11:45 a.m. Sunday, July 12, 2009 at her residence with her family by her side.
Services to celebrate Anne’s life will be 10:00 am Thursday, July 16, 2009 at the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation with Father David Eynon, presider. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 – 8:00 pm at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home with the Trisagion Service at 7:30 pm. Entombment with Flight Home Ceremony will be in the Star of Hope Mausoleum at Graceland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Millikin University Vocal / Music Scholarship Fund or Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation. Anne was born February 10, 1925 in Decatur the daughter of Andrew C. and Hilda J. (Listin) Tomaras. She was the Owner/Operator of Wild Daisy Florist from 1974-1982. She was also an accomplished vocalist who sang with WSOY at Christmas for the Ralph Colburn Show and at many churches and funerals. She was a member of Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation, AOZ Club, Zonna Club, Salvation Army Board for 30 years, Patroness of SAI Music Fraternity, studied at Millikin University, Past President of Webster Hall, Past President of the PTA, Past President of Mary W. French Academies PTA, and on the City Council. She married Wayne Phillips April 26, 1947 in Decatur. He preceded her in death January 30, 2006.
She leaves behind her daughter; Annette Phipps and husband Steven of Decatur, son; Robert Phillips of Decatur, grandchildren; David Phillips and wife Melissa of Florida, Joshua Phipps and fiancee` Lena Frels of Decatur, and Tami (Phipps) Green and husband Michael of Illinois, Aunt Ruth Macklin of Logansport, IN; Cousins Peter and Ina Tomaras of Champaign, IL; Sister-in-law Dolly Tomaras and sons of Washington; and also loved ones Cathy Bossi and husband Frank of North Carolina,and Linda and Cynthia Young of Decatur
She was greeted in heaven by her parents, husband, son Thomas Andrew Phillips, grandson Christopher Phillips, and brothers Chris and William Tomaras.
