Anthony J. Viccone's Obituary
Anthony Joseph Viccone II, 82, of Decatur, passed away Thursday, August 27, 2015 at Eastview Terrace in Sullivan.
Tony was born March 3, 1933 in New York, New York, the son of Anthony Joseph and Nona Alice (Gamble) Viccone Sr. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as a Corporal Signal Corp. with the 44th Infantry Division during the Korean War. He graduated from Stephen Decatur High School and Millikin University. Tony was previously employed as a field representative with the IL State Dept. of Employment retiring December 31, 1988 after thirty years of service. He was a very dedicated member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Decatur and Pana, American Legion Castle Williams Post #105, and the Okaw Muzzle Loaders. He was an avid motorcyclist and automobile enthusiast.
Tony leaves behind his son, Jeffery Viccone Sr. and wife Sharon of Decatur; daughter, Deborah Simon and husband Bernard of Chicago; grandchildren, Jeffery Viccone Jr. and Elisha Viccone; step-grandchildren, Amanda Durbin and husband Jacob and Bradley Sliz and wife Jacqueline; and two great-grandchildren.
Tony was reunited in Heaven with his parents; daughter, Susan Alice Viccone, and sister, Ivah Jean Meyer.
The family would like to thank Eastview Terrace and Harbor Light Hospice for their compassion and exceptional care for Tony.
Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Tony’s life will be 11 a.m. Monday, August 31, 2015 at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 2160 N Edward St, Decatur, with Rev. John Burnette, Celebrant. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Burial with military honors will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to St. Patrick School Tuition Assistance.
