Anthony R "Tony Kapta" Williams' Obituary
Anthony R. “Tony Kapta” Williams, 68, of Decatur, IL passed away January 7, 2021 at his residence.
Tony was born October 4, 1952 in Racine, WI, the firstborn son of Robert and Arlene (Anderson) Williams.
Tony was a precision machinist and worked in the family machine shop, eventually assumed ownership until he retired due to disability. His special talent was successfully designing and crafting solutions to make things work. He had many passionate interests and was self-taught in physics, chemistry, geology and philosophy. He was an avid rockhounder and 15 year member of the Central Illinois Gem and Mineral Club, served as President for the past 9 years, and organized the annual CIGMC Gem & Mineral Show in Decatur. Tony was a member of the Springfield LOESS rock club, board member of the GESCI rock club in Macomb, and past president of the Midwest Federation of Rockhounds. Tony was an avid hunter and fisherman for most of his life.
Tony was survived by his lifelong companion, Regina Kapta; three brothers and one sister.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Private memorial service will be held 3:00 PM, Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home. Public visitation will be held from 2-3 PM Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home. CDC guidelines will be observed. Use of masks are required.
