Archie Lyle Meador, Jr.'s Obituary
Archie Lyle Meador, Jr., 87, of Decatur, IL went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, October 2, 2018. Many were waiting to greet him, and we can only imagine the joy he felt in seeing them and Jesus with perfect sight, perfect hearing and being pain free.

Graveside services will follow at Macon County Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 5 – 8 PM on Sunday, October 7, 2018 at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home, 2091 N. Oakland Ave., Decatur. Lyle was born March 2, 1931 in Decatur, IL, the son of Rev. Archie and Margaret Meador. He married the love of his life, Betty Jean (Lowe) Meador in 1949. They were married for 65 years when she passed in 2015. Lyle was a member and life-time elder of the West Decatur Church of God as well as the music director for many years. He was also a past president of The Gideons International, Decatur Camp. Lyle loved playing his guitar and singing. He and Betty sang at many churches over the years. Now they are together again and praising the Lord.
In Lyle’s early years he worked at Staley’s, then became the greens superintendent at Scovill Golf Course. Several years later he started his own company, Meador Disposal. Lyle loved his family, kids and grandkids. He was an avid Cubs fan and was like a kid on Christmas morning when they won the World Series!
Lyle is survived by his six children: Jeanie Greenwalt (Dave) of Bryon, OH; David Meador (Judy) of Finksburg, MD; Randy Meador (Shelia) of Moweaqua; Jeff Meador of Chandler, AZ; A. Lyle Meador III of Oreana; and Noel Meador of Moweaqua. Also surviving is his sister, Mary Jane Jones, who moved in with him to care for him like a loving mother; and a brother, Rev. Harold Meador (Jeannine) of Florida. He leaves behind 30 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Betty; parents; sister, Glenda Jones; 13 brothers-in-law; and two sisters-in-law.
Lyle was loved by many. He was a very sweet man and very strong about his convictions. He was never shy in telling anyone about the Lord and up until the day he passed he was still singing songs about Jesus in his sleep. He will be greatly missed.
