Arthur "Pierce" Bruckner's Obituary
Decatur- Arthur “Pierce” Bruckner, 83, of Decatur, passed away Saturday, May 28, 2016.
Pierce was born March 31, 1933, in Lubbock, TX, the son of August Arthur and Ina (Caton) Bruckner. Pierce retired from founding and owning Bruckner Masonry for many years. Pierce also served his country proudly in the United States Navy. Pierce married Gayle Crowder on February 8, 1957 in Abilene, TX. They shared 59 wonderful years together. Pierce enjoyed the outdoors, camping, hunting, and fishing. He loved animals, music, carving ducks, repairing clocks, and smoking his pipe. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with family. He was also a member of First Presbyterian Church of Decatur.
Pierce leaves behind his wife, Gayle Bruckner of Decatur; son, David (Ann) Bruckner of Argenta; daughter, Debbie (Mark Tucker) Patterson of Decatur; sisters, Jo Ann Oliver of Squim, WA., Mary (Frank) Piester of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Josh and Solange Patterson (Pierce), Julie and Greg Hale (Logan, Kylie, Ellie), Jaci Patterson (Bella), Jordan and Sam Breeden, Jan Yuhas, Jill Yuhas, Jacob Bruckner, and Rachel Bruckner.
Graveside services will be 9:30 am in Graceland Cemetery and conclude with military honors. A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday June 11, 2016 in First Presbyterian Church 204 W. Prairie Ave, Decatur, IL 62523. Gathering will follow after the memorial service at 11:45 am. Memorials are suggested to First Presbyterian Church or donor’s choice.
