Arthur Schoepfer's Obituary
Schoepfer, Arthur E. ,92 of Decatur, IL passed away on March 21, 2024. A private memorial service will be held for the family.
Arthur was born on April 28, 1931, in Chicago, IL the son of Arthur H. and Sophie (Roessler). He graduated from Lane Technical High School, Chicago, Il. He attended the University of Illinois, Chicago, then graduated from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He worked for Olin Matheson in Niagara Falls, NY as a chemical engineer. He married Shirley Dombrowski in 1953 in Chicago Il. while working for Olin Matheson. He then started at A.E. Staley Manufacturing Co. in 1960. He worked there for 31 years, retiring in 1991.
Art was a standout soccer player during his high school years. Art enjoyed coaching a Khoury League baseball team for many years in Decatur. He enjoyed golf, and was a member of South Side Country Club since 1980. He passed on his love for golf to many of his grandchildren.
His greatest joy was spending time with his family, attending ball games, dance recitals, birthday parties and going on family vacations. He was truly proud of all of his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife Shirley, his children, Susan March, Rockford, IL; Cheryl (Larry) Mueller, Decatur, IL; Nancy (Michael) Handley, Springfield, IL; 5 grandchildren, Mandy (Chris) Espinoza, Sara (John) Bross, Brennan (Austin) Blakely, Ian and Gannon Handley and 3 great-grandchildren, Emma, Owen and Piper.
