She is with me every day.
It's been 9 years nearly to the day. I had never read the comments on here, even reading her obituary would break me down. Today I did though and I want to thank all who commented so many years ago - sharing memories of my incredible Grandma. All of us are capable of being cruel at times, of being mean. Not my Grandmother - to me, forever and always, she will remain a Saint. She took care of me more than I can say from the time I was a baby until she passed when I was 27. I remember spending the night multiple times a week throughout my entire childhood - hundreds of walks in the woods, so much knowledge passed on to me about nature, so many incredible stories that I wish I could remember better. When I think of my childhood I think of her - nearly every good memory I have was due to her, was with her. Trips up the Mississippi, trips to state parks. She helps make me who I am today - she instilled in me so much empathy that I try to channel to continue doing right in her name. All that is good within me is down to her incredible love, empathy, kindness. She never raised her voice, she never seemed angry, she was there for me always. Days before she passed she had a lucid moment, remembered my name, wanted a kiss, told me she loved me. I was able to say goodbye - and though it remains a wound so deep, it is also something I cherish deeply. Grandma - I miss you, after 9 years I still can close my eyes and hear your voice, see your face. I wish you were here, I love you still and forever and always.
Your grandson, Corey.
Mike,Sorry to hear about your mom. I remember the hockey rides with her in the little blue bug. Hope things are going well for you. Hockey is a big part of my family as I still hack around in mens leagues and both boys play. Say hello to your Dad, Julie and John and let them know the whole Taylor family is thinking of you.Doug
I remember the first time I met Barb. She was giving a walk through Spitler Woods teaching Girl Scout leaders about the spring wildflowers. That taught me to appreciate all the woodland wildflowers and to this day I enjoy going to see the spring flowers. Also, Barb and Larry and my husband and I spent some nice New Year's eves together laughing and playing cards.Just the other day I ran across a book that Barb had given me about vegetable gardens. She knew I had a big garden and would enjoy the book. She was always on the lookout for old books. Barb conveyed her love of nature in many ways. Sympathy to Larry and all of Barb's family. Julie & the Bechtel family. So sorry to hear about the loss of your mother. Barbara always made me feel like I was a part of her family and she created some great memories that I will always cherish. She was a great mother and role model for her chidren and grandchildren and had a positive influence on everyone that met her. I am sure she will be greatly missed by all that knew her.R.I.P. Barbara
Dear Larry,May God bless Barbara in his nearer presence, and bless you and your family as you thank God for her.Your old school friend,Bob Walters
I was very sorry to learn of your loss. Barb was such a neat lady and she was so involved in her grandkid's education. The years that I had her as a "grand" room mom she contributed to the lessons and planned many wonderful activities for them. And it continued… for several years after she would share items with me and propose ideas for my classes. I truly appreciated her help and concern. Hugs to all of you and her beautiful grandkids she cherished.
My husband, Tony & I had the pleasure to know Barb during her time at St Mary's Hospital. She was an awesome nurse and will be sadly missed. Know our prayers are with your family as you grieve her loss.
It was my great privilege and pleasure to know Barb through the living history program at Rock Springs. She was a tremendously skilled teacher and an enthusiastic volunteer. She taught countless young people about the value of nature and the ways of the animal kingdom. With a great sense of humor and a natural ability to tell stories, she made people want to be around her. "Dr. Calhoun" will be sorely missed by those, who like me consider their lives richer for being touched by her.
Julie,I am so sorry that you lost your mother. I know that it was not totally unexpected but…. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. She made the world a better place with her contributions to the health community and Rock Springs Conservation Center. Please contact me if you need anything. I am available for lunch if you just want to visit.Marsha Spaulding
