Barbara Jean Benedict's Obituary
Decatur-Barbara Jean Benedict, 78, of Decatur, our loving Mother and best friend, passed away at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, April 30, 2009 in her residence with her family.
Private family graveside services to celebrate Barbara’s life will be held at Graceland Cemetery with the “Flight Home” Ceremony concluding the service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to DMH Hospice or American Cancer Society. Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home is assisting the family with these arrangements. Barbara was born November 4, 1930 in Decatur the daughter of Joseph and Ina (Barker) Dunne. She was retired from the Macon County Auditor’s Office. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. She was an avid tennis player and bowler.
She leaves behind her daughters; Joyce K. Davis and husband Ray of Decatur, Jeannie E. Benedict and partner Marcy of Decatur, and Janet P. Goodpaster and husband Joel of Macon, sons; Richard L. and wife Pam of Decatur, Jerold E. and wife Lori of Clinton, sisters; Margaret M. Sikora of Toms River, New Jersey, and Catherine Barron of Decatur, sister-in-law; Georgia Dunne of San Jose, California, brother-in-laws; Eugene Grosch of Dekalb, Illinois and John Shockey of Austin, Texas, grandchildren; Michael and Gary Patch and Dawn Barger, Nolan and Rachel Benedict, and Justin, Logan, and Trisha Benedict, ten great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was reunited in heaven with her parents, three brothers, and two sisters.
