Barbara L. Carter's Obituary
Barbara L. Carter, 94, of Decatur, IL, went to be with her Lord and Saviour at 4:10 A.M. on Friday (08-30-2024) in Hickory Point Christian Village.
Barbara was born on August 19, 1930, in Decatur, IL, the daughter of Wilbur W. Hall and Lola A. (Stearnes) Hall. She married Walter L. Carter on May 21, 1949, at Riverside Baptist Church, Decatur, IL. They were married for over 75 years.
She was a member of Riverside Baptist Church, Decatur, IL. Barbara was also a Bailiff for the Macon County Courthouse for 25 years. She loved gardening, yard work and loved being outdoors to watch the birds and butterflies. Barbara loved baking and was exceptionally good at it. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan. Barbara was a generous and giving person and always loved to spend time with her grandkids and great grandkids.
Barbara is survived by her husband Walter of Decatur, IL; children: Loni Furry and husband John of Forsyth, IL; Curt Carter and wife Kathy of Mt. Zion, IL, and Tim Carter and wife Shannon of Decatur, IL; grandchildren: Ryan Lindsey of Cape Coral, FL, Courtney Lindsey of Decatur, IL, Jeremy (Jennifer) Witts of Nixa, MO, Andy (Megan) Carter of Carbondale, IL, Andrea (Sean) Higgins of Monticello, IL, Amber (Trent) Thompson of Sullivan, IL, Maegan (Brad) Carter of Decatur, IL; two step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren and one sister Marilyn Allen of Columbia, SC.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two infant daughters Vickie and Linda, one grandson Adam Carter, one great-grandson Owen Thompson, one brother Wayne Hall, and one sister Norma Hall.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. on Thursday (09-05-2024) at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home. The funeral will be at 12:00 P.M. at Graceland Fairlawn Funeral Home. The burial will follow the service at Macon County Memorial Park.
