Barbara Harbison's Obituary
Decatur ' Barbara Ann Harbison, 71 of Decatur, passed away at 12:04am Wednesday, January 25, 2012, at home with her family by her side.
Visitation services for Barbara will be held at 1:00pm Saturday, January 28, 2012 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home in Decatur, IL, for Family and Friends. The Memorial Service to celebrate Barbara's life will be held at 2:00pm, following the visitation, conducted by Chaplain Tim Haworth. Memorials are suggested to be given to 'Come Together Let's Walk Breast Cancer Foundation'.
Barbara was born on January 3, 1941 in Fredericktown, MO., a daughter of Jessie and Lola Inman. Barbara married Gerald E. Harbison on May 5, 1961, while working at IBM in St. Louis. She later left IBM to become a homemaker and raise her family. They moved to Mt. Zion, IL in 1970, where she was very involved in the community and surrounded herself with many great friends. Utilizing her talents in the kitchen, Barb also worked in food service at the Decatur Vocational School, teaching students in the culinary field, while working Creative Catering, which she and her husband Jerry owned and operated. She later worked at ADM cooking for the executives in the private kitchen. For a short time, Barb used her sales and decorating abilities at Von Maur and Sears in Decatur.
Surviving are her husband Jerry, daughter Gayle and wife Amelia of Decatur, son Geoff and wife Shan of Mt. Zion, grandchildren Bradley and Joie, brothers Donald R. Inman and Marge Reynolds of Springfield, MO and Gary E. Inman and Pam of Fredericktown, MO.
She was preceded in death by her parents and special Aunt Mac and Uncle Benny Weissenborn of Hot Springs Village, AK.
Words cannot express the gratitude the family has for the loving care and attention given to Barbara by the staff at Harbor Lights Hospice, Hands Across America and Addus. They will be forever grateful.
