Barbara Jo Hodges' Obituary
Barbara Jo Hodges, 77, of Decatur, passed away Thursday, May 28, 2020, in her daughter’s home.
Barbara was born April 12, 1943, in Decatur, IL to August A. and Naomi M. (Fisher) Davis. She married Donald H. Hodges. She was an avid reader, loved genealogy, camping, bowling and playing Yahtzee. She never met a stranger and always put others before herself. Barbara enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is survived by her five children, Ty (fiance Allison) Mitchell, Nicholas J. Mitchell, Scottie Mitchell, Marcella (Joseph) Schanuel and Amy (Tony) Buttrum; fourteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Steven Brazle, Michael Brazle; and two sisters, Pam (Rick) Nana and Beverly Whinery.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald; her grandson, James B. Mitchell; five brothers, Dennis Brazle, Lawrence “Dean” Davis, Marvin “Butch” Davis, Del Davis and Stanley Davis; and one sister, Sandra Enlow.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Barbara Jo Hodges will be 11 a.m. Thursday, June 4, 2020, at New Vision Church 550 North Van Dyke Street, Decatur, IL 62522. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at the church. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery. Following the graveside services at the cemetery, the family will be holding a luncheon at Wild Dog Saloon 815 South 22nd Street, Decatur, IL 62521.
