Barbara was born August 22, 1935 in Moweaqua, the daughter of Clarence and Rhea (Wright) Lambdin. She was raised on a farm southwest of Moweaqua, and graduated from Moweaqua High School with the class of 1953. After attending I.S.U. for one year, she married Paul Jones on June 20, 1954. For the next six years she worked in various secretarial jobs to help put Paul through college and seminary. In 1960 she was given a PHT degree (Pushing Hubby Through) by the San Francisco Theological Seminary in San Anselmo, California.
For the rest of her life she was a pastor’s wife, then farmer’s wife, mother, secretary, missionary wife in Indiana, Spain, Columbia, Brazil, and Georgia. She loved to knit, and during her years hand-knit over 500 sweaters, as well as many other items. Reading and gardening were also enjoyable pastimes. She was a Master Gardener.
In 1999, on her birthday, she was informed that she had ovarian cancer. A long ten year battle ensued, but her faith and trust in God never wavered. She always maintained her cheerful, upbeat attitude, and was a blessing to all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years: Paul, two children: Sally (Bill) Weimer of Moweaqua, and Jerry (Cathy) Jones of Assumption, three grandchildren: Paul Weimer, Amanda (Matt) Hill, and Jerad Jones, three great-grandchildren: Madison, Logan, and Zachary, one brother: Clarence “Larry” (Gloria) Lambdin of Morristown, Tennessee.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.
Barbara will long live in our hearts until we can be reunited with her in Jesus.
