Benita May Spellman's Obituary
Benita May Spellman, 83, of Decatur, IL, fell asleep July 5, 2020 at St. Mary’s Hospital where she passed into the arms of Jesus, who delivered her to her loved ones who have passed before her.
Benita was born February 26, 1937 in Urbana, IL, the daughter of Ernest Irwin and Norin (Gillispie) Allen. She married Jack Spellman and after his passing she married Buddy B. Spellman.
Benita was a member of New Beginnings Church of God. She would often volunteer her time with Good Samaritan Inn and Salvation Army. She fostered many children over the course of 10 years. Benita held a special affection to her pet dogs.
Surviving are her children Cindy Hardcastle (Dean) of Black Canyon, AZ, Scott Spellman (Carol) of Clinton, IL, Buddy Spellman of Clinton, IL; brothers, Dr. James Allen (Mary) of Forsyth, IL, Dr. Harold Allen of Clinton, IL; 5 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; sons, Randy Spellman and Curt Spellman and one sister Doris Earles.
Private services will be held at a later date at Graceland Cemetery.
