Berna Bernice Montgomery's Obituary
DECATUR- Bernice Montgomery, 86 of Decatur, passed away at 11:35 pm on Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at Decatur Memorial Hospital.
A memorial graveside service is planned for the spring at Graceland Cemetery. Graceland/Fairlawn is assisting the family with the arrangements. Online condolences and memories can be shared with the family at www.gracelandfairlawn.com.
Bernice was born on December 9, 1923 in Champaign County, the daughter of Charles and Orpha Johnson Buoy. She married Raymond Montgomery December 6, 1940 in Urbana, IL. He preceded her in death on September 27, 1978.
She worked at Eldorado Apparel for several years, where she retired in 1983.
One of her favorite past times was working in her garden where she grew beautiful flowers. She was a huge Cubs fan, and also enjoyed watching the Illini play.
Surviving are her daughters: Deanna Duvall and husband Larry of Laporte, Texas, Marjorie Maple and husband Joe of Laporte, Texas, Judy Carr of Decatur, Donna Cooper and husband Bob of Decatur, Pam Siere and husband John of Decatur, sons: Robert Montgomery and Gail of Livingston, Texas, David Montgomery and wife Laurie of Decatur, sisters: Nellie Gilpin and husband Bobby of Newman, Hila Eyestone of Atwood, brother: Arnold Buoy and wife Charlene of Garrett, 18 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Michael, infant granddaughter, and sisters: Nila and Norma, and brothers: Edward, Dwight, and Harold.
Bernice was a wonderful mother and grandmother, and will be loved and missed by all who knew her.
