Bernadine Ida Barter's Obituary
Decatur-Bernadine Ida Barter, 89, of Decatur, passed away Monday, November 10, 2014 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur.
Bernadine was born September 12, 1925 in Woodlawn, Illinois, the daughter of Herman and Alice (Fagan) Knox. She retired from the Credit Bureau of Decatur in January of 1990. She married Richard W. Barter July 16, 1943, in Decatur. He preceded her in death December 14, 1995.
Bernadine leaves behind her sons Stephen (Sandy) Barter of Oreana and Richard Barter of Los Angeles, California, daughters Carolyn (Leonard) Weaver of Decatur, grandchildren Julie (Todd) Sanderlin, Patty Traxler, Shawn (Elizabeth) Gallagher, Mollie (Mareco) Perkins-Rhodes, and Selena Weaver, great-grandchildren Kyle (Shaina) Rodgers, Klayton (Ashley) Rodgers, Karson Rodgers, Cory (Shannon) Sanderlin, Melissa Gray, Addison Gallagher, Camden Gallagher, Logan Gallagher, Tianna Perkins-Rhodes, Mareco Perkins-Rhodes, Markell Perkins-Rhodes, and great-great-grandchildren Hudson Rodgers, Cannon Gray, Kruze Rodgers, and Alexa Sanderlin.
Bernadine was reunited in Heaven with her parents, husband, daughter Marilyn Hackney, and sister Vivian White.
Services to celebrate Bernadine’s life will be 2 p.m. Saturday, November 15, 2014 at Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society.
