Bernadine "Bernie" Daugherty McGlade's Obituary
Decatur-Bernadine “Bernie” Daugherty McGlade, 87, of Decatur, passed away Monday, January 19, 2015 at Mason Point in Sullivan.
Bernie was born June 13, 1927 in Taylorville, Illinois the daughter of Orville and Dorothy (Nave) Daugherty. She graduated from Depue High School. She was married to Joseph McGlade. Bernie was previously employed at A.E. Staley, Sam’s Club, and Burg’s Shoe Service. She enjoyed cooking, flea markets, playing the piano, and spending time with her family.
Bernie leaves behind her daughter Gina Perry and husband Joe of Decatur, son Danny McGlade of Decatur, sisters Katherine Floyd of Oswego and Pat Bivens of Peru, five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson on the way.
Bernie was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Jack and Jim, and sisters Clara and Betty.
Services to celebrate Bernie’s life will be 11 a.m. Saturday, January 24, 2015 in the chapel at Mason Point in Sullivan with Pastor Tim Henderson officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Macon County Memorial Park. Memorials are suggested to the Mason Point Activity Fund or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
