Bernadine "Bernie" Sebok's Obituary
Decatur-Bernadine “Bernie” Sebok, 87, of Decatur, passed away at 1:05 p.m. Monday, February 25, 2013 in Imboden Creek Living Center with her family by her side.
Bernie was born April 29, 1925 in Decatur, the daughter of Philip and Frances (Brinkoetter) Bauer. She graduated from Decatur High School Class of 1943. She was previously employed with St. Mary’s Hospital retiring after twenty-six years of service. She was a member Ss James and Patrick Parish, St. Elizabeth Sodality, ABWA Marigold Chapter, and the Kiwanianne Club. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, baking, and crafts. She married Steve Sebok October 13, 1946. He preceded her in death November 28, 1996.
She leaves behind her son Daniel Sebok and wife Catherine of Decatur, daughter Mary Burns Keller and husband James of Decatur, brother Robert Bauer and wife Mary Jean of Decatur, sister Phyllis Smith of Decatur, sister-in-law Marie Bauer, grandsons Bradley Burns, Brian Burns, and Andrew Sebok, and numerous loving nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren.
She was reunited in Heaven with her parents, husband, infant son Donald, brother Edward Bauer, son-in-law Robert “Rocky” Burns, brother-in-law Harold “Tub” Smith, and great-grandson Briar.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Fr. John Burnette and the “Angels” at Imboden Creek Living Center for all of their compassionate care.
Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Bernie’s life will be 10 a.m. Friday, March 1, 2013 at St. James Catholic Church, 742 E. Clay Decatur, with Rev. John Burnette, Celebrant. Vigil Prayer Service will be at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, February 28, 2013 in Graceland/Fairlawn Funeral Home with visitation following from 5-7 p.m. Burial will be in Mt. Gilead Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to Ss James and Patrick Parish or the Kiwanianne Club Scholarship Fund.
